OKLAHOMA 9, TEXAS TECH 4
The 6th-ranked University of Oklahoma® Hockey club was consistent yet uninspiring Friday evening as the Sooners beat Texas Tech University by a score of 9-4 in Oklahoma City.
Tech got on the scoreboard first with a goal just over a minute into the game. However, forward Jesse Bryant (Anchorage, AK) tied the game at 1-1 with a goal at the 4:29 mark of the period. Forward Owen Brewer (Kenai, AK) scored the first of his three goals on the evening at 11:13 of the period to put the Sooners up 2-1. Forward Dan Rombach (North Richland Hills, TX) scored a "Sportscenter"-highlight type goal with just over five minutes to go in the period to put OU up 3-1. Tech would net a power play goal before the end of the first 20 minutes of play, meaning OU held a slim 3-2 lead at the break. In the second period, OU came out flying and put three more goals on the board. Brewer made the most of Tech defensive miscue and scored at 3:40 of the 2nd to put the Sooners up 4-2. Forward Doug Gebbie (Frisco, TX)scored in a scrum in front of the Tech net at 12:14 of the second stanza, followed by a goal from forward Blake Martin (Anchorage, AK) less than a minute later to put OU up 6-2 after two periods of action. The third period saw the Sooners receive goals from forwards Chris Nicolaou (Dallas, TX) and Ryan Kenney (Scottsdale, AZ) while Brewer completed his hat trick with a power play tally. Tech added two more power play goals due to an Oklahoma major penalty to make the final score 9-4 in favor of Oklahoma tonight. Sooners goaltender Colin Sablotny (Plano, TX) stopped 15 of 19 shots from the Red Raiders while Tech's Brant MacQuoid stopped 40 of 49 shots from OU before being replaced for the final two minutes of the game. Oklahoma was 1 for 3 on the power play while Texas Tech 3 for 6 with the man advantage. Oklahoma improves to 19-6-2 with the win while Texas Tech falls to 7-18-1. Oklahoma hosts the Red Raiders again Saturday night at 6:30 P.M. in Oklahoma City.

For the second night in a row, the 6th-ranked University of Oklahoma® Hockey club put in a consistent and workmanlike effort on their way to a win over visiting Texas Tech University on Saturday night in Oklahoma City.
Defenseman Blake Johnson (Oklahoma City, OK) scored twice in twenty seconds, one on the power play and one while at even strength, near the 15 minute mark of the first period to put OU up 2-0 over the Red Raiders. Former Sooner Jordan Novak scored for Tech early in the second period to tighten the game at 2-1 but Oklahoma unloaded on Tech after that with three goals in the second stanza. Defenseman Robert Hetrick (Tulsa, OK) scored on the power play at 5:54 to restore OU's two-goal lead. Forward Kyle Allan (Flagstaff, AZ) scored his team-leading 23rd goal of the season, this one a short-handed goal, at the 7:34 mark of the period. Forward Ryan Kenney (Scottsdale, AZ) scored his second goal of the weekend at the 13:59 mark to make the score 5-1 after 40 minutes of action. In the third period, forwards Jesse Bryant (Anchorage, AK) added another tally at 6:51 to increase the lead to five goals. Late in the final period with the game well in hand, the Sooners found themselves once again dealing with some self-inflicted penalty issues. However, the Oklahoma penalty kill held off the Texas Tech offensive pressure to preserve the 6-1 score through the final buzzer. Sooners goaltender Matt Pombo (Allen, TX) played well in net, stopping 21 of 22 shots from Tech while Red Raider goalie Michael Pruneau stopped 20 of 26 shots from OU. Oklahoma was 2 for 5 on the power play while Texas Tech 1 for 8 with the man advantage. Oklahoma improves to 20-6-2 with the win while Texas Tech falls to 7-19-1. Oklahoma travels to No. 5 Iowa State next weekend for a pair of games in Ames, Iowa.
