LINDENWOOD 6, OKLAHOMA 1 The 5th-ranked University of Oklahoma® Hockey club suffered its worst loss of the season tonight as No. 2 Lindenwood used a four-goal explosion in the second period to cruise to an easy 6-1 win over the Sooners on Friday evening in Oklahoma City. The first period was full of great end-to-end action as rivals OU and Lindenwood each had some pretty good scoring chances in the first ten minutes of the game. Lindenwood scored at the 12:30 mark to take a 1-0 lead to the first intermission. Sixteen seconds after the second period began, Lindenwood's lead had double to 2-0 courtesy of a soft goal allowed by the Sooners. Lindenwood scored another softie at the 2:04 mark and that was all she wrote for Sooners goalie Chad Helgason (Woodbury, MN) as Coach Tom Murphy tried to stem the bloodletting with a goalie change. Goaltender Matt Pombo (Allen, TX) entered the fray and allowed two more goals in the second period to push Lindenwood's lead to 5-0 over the Sooners. Forward Adrian Borchgrevink (Kenai, AK) scored a shorthanded goal nine seconds from the second intermission to erase the goose-egg for OU at 5-1. In the third, both teams wanted to get the game over with and go home but for different reasons. Nevertheless, Lindenwood scored again with a tick over one minute to go in the game to make tonight's final 6-1 in favor of the Lions. Helgason stopped 10 of 13 shots and Pombo stopped 15 of 18 shots from the Lions while Lindenwood's Robi Cavallari stopped 18 of 19 OU shots he faced on the evening. Oklahoma was 0 for 7 on the power play while Lindenwood was 0 for 5 with the man advantage. Oklahoma's record now falls to 17-5-2 while Lindenwood improves to 22-2-1. Oklahoma hosts Lindenwood again on Saturday night in Oklahoma City.

LINDENWOOD 4, OKLAHOMA 1 For the second night in a row, the 5th-ranked University of Oklahoma® Hockey club took one on the chin at home courtesy of No. 2 Lindenwood who beat the Sooners 4-1 on Saturday evening in Oklahoma City. In the first period, Lindenwood scored on the power play at the 5:24 mark to take a 1-0 lead. The Lions stunned OU just 22 seconds later with another goal to take a 2-0 lead. The Sooners regained their composure and played well for the remainder of the first period and through the second but could not get the puck into the Lindenwood net. However, in the third period, OU completely melted down. The Sooners took stupid penalties multiple times and basically forgot to play hockey and to play as a team. Lindenwood showed all in attendance why they are the No. 2 team in the country as they took full advantage of the Sooners' lack of discipline, scoring twice on the power play to salt the game away. Oklahoma forward Kyle Allan (Flagstaff, AZ) scored while OU was short-handed with 3:15 to go in the game to avoid the shutout. Sooners goaltender Matt Pombo (Allen, TX) stopped 31 of 35 shots from the Lions while Lindenwood's Robi Cavallari stopped 23 of 24 shots from OU. Oklahoma was again snuffed on the power play, going 0 for 4, while Lindenwood scored three times in fourteen man advantage opportunities. Oklahoma is now 17-6-2 while Lindenwood is now 23-2-1. Oklahoma hosts Arizona State at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday afternoon in Oklahoma City.

OKLAHOMA 5, AZ STATE 1 Playing its third game in three days, the 5th-ranked University of Oklahoma® Hockey club rebounded from two losses to Lindenwood with a 5-1 win over Arizona State on Sunday afternoon in Oklahoma City.
While the final score may look differently, this game was anything but easy for the Sooners. The Sooners were held scoreless for the first 40 minutes of play, partly due to sluggish and sloppy play from OU but mostly due to the efforts of ASU goalie Marc Schacker who was lights out in net. After two periods of play, Oklahoma had outshot ASU 23-14 but the score was still tied 0-0. In the third period, Oklahoma finally got on the board with a gorgeous tic-tac-toe power play goal from forward Justin King (DeWitt, MI) at the 2:56 mark. OU leading goal scorer Kyle Allan (Flagstaff, AZ) sent a wicked slapshot from between the circles into the ASU net at the 7:58 mark to give the Sooners a 2-0 lead. ASU scored about three minutes later to tighten the game at 2-1 and took the momentum away from the Sooners for the next few minutes with several quality scoring chances in an effort to tie the game. However, forward Daryl Dee (Garland, TX) banged home a rebound shot at 16:10 of the period to put the Sooners up by two goals again. Thirty-one seconds later, forward Jesse Bryant (Anchorage, AK) scored on a sweet backhand shot to make the score 4-1 and Allan added a short-handed empty netter with 33 seconds to go in the game to make today's final 5-1 in favor of Oklahoma. Sooners goaltender Chad Helgason (Woodbury, MN) stopped 22 of 23 shots from the Sun Devils while ASU's Schacker stopped 31 of 35 shots from OU. Oklahoma was 1 for 6 on the power play while Arizona State went 0 for 9 with the man advantage. Oklahoma improves to 18-6-2 with the win while Arizona State is now 11-10-0.
