The 5th-ranked University of Oklahoma® Hockey club blew a two-goal lead in the third period and ended up losing in a shootout to No. 11 Ohio by a score of 4-3 on Wednesday evening in Oklahoma City.

Forward Daniel Siira (Anchorage, AKscored at 10:19 of the first to give OU a 1-0 lead over the Bobcats, which lead held up through the first intermission.  In the second, Siira fed linemate forward Owen Brewer (Kenai, AK) with a beautiful pass in front of the crease and Brewer popped the puck home with 3:47 left in the second period to give OU a 2-0 lead with twenty minutes to play.  Little did OU know that extra time loomed.  In the third, Ohio charged back with a goal at 4:22 and another at 9:30 to tie the game at 2-2.  Ohio had a chance to take a lead when they were awarded a penalty shot at the 13:00 mark but that effort was denied by Sooners goaltender Colin Sablotny (Plano, TX).  The Bobcats completed the comeback and took a 3-2 lead on a power play goal with 3:14 to go in the game.  Sooners forward Adrian Borchgrevink (Kenai, AK) tied the game at 3-3 with a goal just 1:24 from the end of regulation.  Neither team scored in the five-minute four-on-four overtime and a shootout ensued.  In the shootout, Ohio's first two shooters scored while Oklahoma's first two shooters did not, meaning Ohio won the game by a score of 4-3.
