OKLAHOMA 4, ROB'T MORRIS 2
The 6th-ranked University of Oklahoma® Hockey club dug itself a hole before exhibiting some character in a 4-2 come-from-behind road win over No. 18 Robert Morris College in suburban Chicago on Friday night. The Sooners found themselves down 1-0 pretty quick when RMC leading scorer, Eriks Ozollapa, struck with a nifty backhand just four minutes into the game. Forward Justin King (DeWitt, MI) tied the game when he scored on a tic-tac-toe effort on the power play at the 10:07 mark of the first period. RMC scored again with just over four minutes to go in the period and took a 2-1 lead to the locker room at the first intermission. The second period was all Sooners, all the time. Forward Dan Siira (Anchorage, AK) received a sweet pass from fellow forward Doug Gebbie (Frisco, TX) and skated across the goal mouth of the RMC net. With the Eagles' goaltender stretched out across the crease, Siira coolly flicked a backhander into the net to tie the game at 2-2 at the 7:15 mark. The Sooners took the lead for good less than two minutes later when forward Adrian Borchgrevink (Kenai, AK) blasted a laser past the RMC goaltender to give OU the lead. All told, the Sooners' relentless pressure and hard work in the second period resulted in 14 shots on goal (not including two shots by Borchgrevink that rang the post) compared to RMC's two shots in the same time frame. In the third period of play, forward Sean McCauley (Naperville, IL) sealed the game for OU with a sublime goal at 10:11 of the period to put OU up 4-2. RMC pulled their goalie in the last minute or so of the game but could not solve the Sooners' defense before the final buzzer sounded.
Oklahoma goaltender Chad Helgason (Woodbury, MN) stopped 17 of 19 shots on his way to his third win of the season. RMC goalie Dan Venet stopped 36 of 40 shots from the Sooners tonight. Oklahoma was 1 for 4 on the power play while RMC went 0 for 4 with the man advantage. Oklahoma improves to 6-1-0 while Robert Morris hits the .500 mark at 4-4-0.

The 6th-ranked University of Oklahoma® Hockey club played its first solid Saturday night game of the season and came away with a dominating 5-1 win to complete a weekend sweep of No. 18 Robert Morris College in suburban Chicago. Forward Owen Brewer (Kenai, AK) was in the right place at the right time as he scored two power play goals in the first period to give OU a 2-0 lead. Brewer was rounding the left post when he batted in a rebound on OU's first power play chance at 4:49 of the period. Back on the power play thirteen minutes later, Brewer was on the opposite post when a rebound found his way to the alternate captain, who ever so gently tucked the puck into the open RMC net to put the Sooners up 2-0.
Early in the second period, a defensive miscue by the Sooners resulted in a RMC goal to tighten the game at 2-1. However, near the midway point of the period, defenseman Austin Miller (Dallas, TX) took advantage of a poor RMC line change and found forward Justin King (DeWitt, MI) all alone at the blue line. King calmly skated in on the RMC goalie and ripped a blast from the top of the right circle over the RMC netminder's left shoulder to give OU a 3-1 lead at 9:18 of the period.
The third period was all Oklahoma as the Sooners outshot the Eagles 12-4 in the period, which included two five-on-three power play situations for OU. The Sooners could not cash in on the 5-on-3's but came very close as forward Daryl Dee (Garland, TX) scored exactly one tick after the second 5-on-3 chance expired to put the Sooners up by three goals. Dee would put his stamp on the third period with another goal at 14:33 to make the score 5-1 in favor of the Sooners. After that, the Sooners played dump and chase to keep the puck deep into the RMC zone while waiting for time to expire and complete the weekend sweep.
Oklahoma goaltender Chad Helgason (Woodbury, MN) made his second consecutive start and ended up stopping all but one of RMC's 22 shots. Eagles goalie Dan Venet stopped 33 of 38 OU shots he faced. Oklahoma's power play was definitely clicking as it went 3 for 7 with the man advantage while RMC went 0 for 7 on their power play opportunities. Oklahoma's record is now 7-1-0 while Robert Morris falls to 4-5-0.
