The No. 7 OU Hockey team travels to Lynchburg, Va., to play the No. 8 ranked Liberty Flames today and Saturday.

“This will be our first real test after our Lindenwood game,” head coach Larry Donovan said. “It should be a real exciting weekend.”

The OU Hockey team is 10-1, losing only to Lindenwood University 2-5 on Sept. 29.

No. 8 Liberty is 7-3 this season, with two of its losses also to Lindenwood.

This weekend’s match up against Liberty is the first of three key matchups in the next few weeks. On Nov. 9-10, OU travels to play No. 12 Iowa State in Ames, Iowa before facing Weber State Nov. 16 to 17.

“These next three weekends will be a test for our team,” Donovan said. “These games could definitely impact our season.”

Junior forward Kyle Allen leads the team with 12 goals and freshman Sean McCauley leads with 10 assists. Junior Owen Brewer, who just returned from suspension, has a eight goals in seven games.

“We have a few injuries, and few guys are out sick,” Donovan said. “But we have 28 talented guys on the team, and we had a great week of practice.”

“We’re geared up and ready,” he said. “We haven’t seen a ranked team in a while.”
