The Sooner Hockey club and Lindenwood University just do not like each other.

When the two Division I heavyweights met earlier this season, they took their frustration out on each other in a chaotic six-on-six line brawl. Even the goalies, which are separated by 90 feet of ice, had to throw down.

On the ice, Lindenwood handed OU its first loss of the season and the Sooners stole a game from the Lions in Missouri. All-time, the Sooners are 6-5-0 versus the Lions.

So when No. 4 Lindenwood traveled to the Blazers Ice Center for a series rematch against the No. 5 Sooners, bad blood pumped through both teams.

On Saturday, the Sooners were on the wrong side of an 8-1 spanking. The eight goals allowed were three more than their previous worst on the season.

Goalie Rob Mattison, who entered the game with a spectacular 2.11 goals against average, was pulled after he allowed three goals on six shots in the first period.

On Friday, the Sooners squeaked out a 5-4 victory in an exciting match up where neither team had more than a one-goal lead at any point in the game.

The Sooners handed Lindenwood goalie Robi Cavallari his first loss on the season (7-1-0).

OU (16-2-1) will see their rivals once more this season as the Lions (13-5-1) return to the Blazers Ice Center on Feb. 3 to settle the season series, which is tied 2-2.

The Sooners will look to rebound in two weeks when they play a home-and-home series against UCO staring Dec. 7.
